I’ve been tapping into the wisdom of my friend and fellow coach Hannah Braime over the past few weeks through her Advent Calendar campaign. Each December day running up to 25th she has sent through some helpful and reflective questions to conjure up thoughts about the year that’s passed. It’s been a beautiful and helpful process.
Way before I was a coach I used to gather folk together on new years ever and ask them to think about ten things they were proud of from the past year. It was a lovely little process that allowed for celebration, gratitude and self-acknowledgement. A great way to head out of one year and into the next.
For me this year has been quite challenging, both personally and in response to the unsettling goings on in the wider world. But there is still a tonne of things I’m proud of, and grateful for. There are also things I’d like to do differently moving into the next year, and new things I’d like to try.
I’m going to find time to think about the following questions, and encourage you to do the same at some point before the New Year:
What am I proud of this year?
How have I shown up in the world this year?
What am I grateful for from the year that’s passed?
What have I learnt about myself?
What do I want to do differently in 2017?
What’s next for me in 2017?
I’m wishing you a peaceful, joyful, energising, self-caring Christmas break. There won’t be a Bird blog next week as I’m taking a full week and a half off, but I’ll see you back in the New Year for what I hope is the start of a sensational year.
Sending love as always, Hannah
