I hope you are well and have started the new year feeling energised and positive. If, like me, you have started the year with some new strategies you’d like to implement it can be super helpful to create some accountability around making those changes by using an accountability buddy.
When I deliver training sessions in organisations I always ensure each participant has a partner from the group and an arrangement to meet regularly to check in and share what has been challenging in implementing the changes, and to celebrate successes. This kind of arrangement means ongoing change and development is occurring.
It helps massively, to have that person to check in with. Fundamentally you’re finding yourself a coach, where the arrangement is reciprocal and you can offer them some support too.
So my recommendation is to find someone to buddy with, make an arrangement to meet them for coffee, or speak on the phone, or send a goals based email once a week in order to get that accountability.
It’s so easy to fall off the path once January really gets going and all of a sudden we’re whipping through the year and our good intentions are lost. But your intentions mean something, they are clearly important to you (as long as they don’t involve the words ‘I should…’) If your intentions are ones based out of a want for positive change for yourself, then make sticking to them a priority, and get some support.
So who is your accountability buddy going to be?
Sending love and support in your quest to make positive self caring changes in your life.
