As we emerge from a locked down life here in the UK, our day to day is returning to more of an action-oriented place. I’ve noticed though, that I’m struggling to keep up, or even, perhaps that I’ve forgotten how to do things.
Last weekend I didn’t have a great deal going on, but I completely forgot that I could have put some activities in the calendar. I’ve un-learned the art of making plans. And so, I was left with a gaping hole which left me feeling down and somewhat lost.
I’m always encouraging clients, friends, humans to explore ‘being’. I advocate that we are human-beings not human-doings. Whilst I still believe this is massively important (if we don’t reflect and feel and be conscious then we lose direction, we project various thoughts and feelings and perspectives out to others which can be damaging) I do think there needs to be equal emphasis on what we do in our lives.
Last night I went out for a drink with four other people, some of whom I don’t know very well, and it was delightful. Today I took myself out for brunch and thought about this blog, and on Monday I went to the Tate Britain gallery and went along to the Extinction Rebellion protest. And all this doing is making me feel energised and uplifted. One doing leads to another idea for another doing, and then another idea, and then another doing and so on.
I’m still leaving plenty of space for meditation, therapy, coaching, yoga, reflecting and just being. But coupling it up with an activity or ten is helping me no end.
So what are you going to do over the next few weeks? What plans would be helpful to enable energy, excitement and uplifting feelings?
With love as always, Hannah and Team Bird
