I’ve been procrastinating a lot recently. I’ve put off going to the shop to get a refund where I’ve been overcharged, I’ve been nervous to go to a couple of business meetings, and I’ve put off going for a run when it’s been raining.
And I’ve come up with a little process that has proved pretty bloody helpful in such situations.
The process is: I instruct my legs to move. I tell my legs to take me to the place I need to go, and I trust that my brain will catch up and do what it needs to do once I’m there.
And it has worked. I found myself in said shop receiving a refund, I’ve found myself sat in, and even enjoying those meetings, and I’ve done a few short runs that have helped clear the cobwebs when I would have easily convinced myself to stay at home.
It’s an instruction, then trust process. Instruct the body to move, and trust that the brain will catch up.
We all too often lead with the mind, we analyse and then take action. But in some situations taking action first, then trusting we can handle whatever comes up can be empowering, productive and fun.

Okay Hannah so my mate Kari just asked me to swim on Monday 9.15pm.
So every inch of my being wants to say no. I will instruct my arms and legs to get me to that pool side!
Brilliant! Go arms and legs!!!
