Embracing the mess

I sat down to write the blog today and couldn’t figure out what to say. I’m in the middle of a bit of a messy personal time at the moment and felt that I didn’t have any concrete learnings or reflections to share. But then it occurred to me, maybe that’s the learning, that sometimes we are in a place of transition, sometimes we are working stuff out and we don’t have to always have things sorted. And that’s ok.

I’ve believed for a long time that being ‘messy’ in any way makes me weak or wrong. But in reality mess is everywhere in life, especially if you are brave enough to try new things, create new relationships, say no to situations or try to change old patterns of behaviour.

Mess isn’t weakness, it means you are evolving. We always get through to the other side of emotions and situations, we’re never going to be stuck in the mess. We need to embrace mess in order to really grow. Being ok with mess is being resilient. When we are bold enough to make changes and be in the mess, and we remember to take care of ourselves in the process, we will only come out the other side feeling stronger, wiser and more self-aware.
