Mental health is not a destination but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going.’ Noem Schpancer
I love this quote about mental health, and when better to share it than on World Mental Health Day? Mental health is an ongoing journey, we must always check in and consider where we are. We can tend to our mental wellbeing, much as a gardener might tend to the plants, we must water and feed our minds, we must give our minds light.
A great way to do that is by reading impactful books and articles. At Bird we’re regularly sharing blogs and books with each other, so this week I thought I’d share a few of our favourites:
How to be Here by Rob Bell
Love Warrior by Glennon Doyle Melton
How to be Human by Ruby Wax
Taming your Gremlin by Rick Carson
The Dark Side of the Light Chasers by Debbie Ford
Lovability by Robert Holden
The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown
White Hot Truth by Danielle LaPorte
Silence by Thich Nhat Hanh
Lost Connections by Johann Hari
This Naked Mind by Annie Grace
Comfortable with Uncertainty by Pema Chodron
The Soul of Money by Lynne twist
When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron
And this brilliant article by Brené Brown
Tending to our minds is a priority. If we support or care for others, we have to support and care for ourselves too. And diving into the reading list above is just one way to do that.
With love as always, Hannah and Team Bird
