I am quite an intuitive person, and rely on my gut feeling for a lot of decisions and actions in life. I sometimes notice myself pushing back when others lean towards more fact-based approaches, when others are more logical and make decisions based on gathered information about a topic. I find it hard approaching life that way. But it doesn’t mean it is wrong. Just as approaching life intuitively isn’t wrong either.
This morning I read the following:
‘The Eagle and the Condor is an ancient prophecy of the Amazon that speaks of human societies splitting into two paths – that of the Eagle, and that of the Condor. The path of the Condor is the path of heart, of intuition, and of the feminine. The path of the Eagle is the path of the mind, of the industrial, and of the masculine.’
So there are those of us who lean towards the mind and those of us who lean towards the heart. In some ways the western ways of living are more like the Eagle, and more traditional indigenous communities are like the Condor. And I believe within both communities the distinctions can be made again. There are people living in the western world who live more from the heart, and I should imagine some individuals living in indigenous communities lean towards the mind.
There are certainly different ways to navigate life. The key point is that we need each other. As in my personal case I’ve noticed pushing back against the Eagle approach, but actually, I could and I have learned much from advancement and technology and the masculine. There is much to learn and gain from both perspectives, and by coming together we can achieve much more in the world.
So if there is someone at work, or a potential client, or a partner, friend or family member who you feel at odds with, perhaps it’s because they are more mind and you are more heart. My suggestion is to lean in, find a way to connect, to bring all your skills together, to hear each other.
It is my belief, as inspired by the Amazon prophecy, that the world will be much relieved of it’s challenges if we bring our differences together, and see that actually they may be different pieces of a full and beautiful picture.
Sending love, Hannah
