Positively populating your calendar

Well, here we are, 2020.

I for one am excited to be entering a new decade, it feels like an opportunity to think about a nice big chunk of time, and consider all that I’d like to achieve before 2030.

I sometimes think we overestimate what we can do in a year, but ten years allows for some real deep, considerable change. Have you thought about the impact you want to have in the next decade? Have you thought about how you want to experience life and work? We’d love to hear.

To begin with over at camp Bird, a few of us are following Adriene’s 30 days of yoga series. Now I know a 30 day yoga programme is short term, but we know that if we begin the year by prioritising our self care, calm and reflection, we will most likely trigger ideas and visions of what we want in the months and years ahead.

In the model of coaching we practice here at Bird (Co-Active coaching), we encourage clients to think about what they as humans can do, alongside who they can be. Over the next ten years what impact do you want to have, and how do you want to feel? Do you want to create an organisation of your own, do you want to get involved in the climate crisis, do you want to own a home, build a family..? And within that, do you want to be a calm presence, do you want to be bold, do you want to have boundaries, do you want to collaborate and connect, do you want a little bit of all of the above?

Once you know the kind of experience you are hoping to have, we’d encourage you to look at your calendar and ensure you add in actions or times of reflection that will help you in that process. We’d encourage you to positively populate your calendar. My calendar starts with yoga with Adriene, and will also include some climate crisis action, a leadership/self development programme of some kind, lots of time for fun and connections with friends and family, and some sort of epic sporting thing (if anyone has any ideas for what this could be I’d happily welcome thoughts!)

As we emerge from the festive down time, now is the perfect moment, before things get too busy again, to think about our futures.

With love as ever, Hannah and Team Bird

Ps. We are running a workshop on April 7th in collaboration with The Social Change Agency. This is a rare opportunity to attend one of our workshops externally, and we’d love to see you there.
