Situations around us change. Nothing is forever and there will always be shifts and twists and turns, especially if we are being brave, trying new things, or working to make an impact in society.
Being a human can be hard, we live in extremely volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous times. We can get to a safe landing space with something and then notice the next challenge, and the next, and the next.
After a number of changes in my life over the past few years, along with closely following the global challenges we’re facing, I notice myself sometimes feeling a bit lost or untethered at the moment. A bit overwhelmed with the lack of clarity about how best to move forward.
But the idea I always come back to in such moments is to look at what’s going on internally for me. I feel the answers pretty much always lie in finding ways, amongst all the chaos out there, to find a sense of peace, a sense of home inside myself. That’s not to dismiss everything externally, I think it’s still so important to connect with each other and nature, to fight the good fight for a good cause. But our inner world really is a space we can positively impact. Self-compassion, gratitude, movement, meditation, affirmations, mantras, they’re all a way to calm the inner world.
I feel it’s essential for us right now to turn the dial up on our self-care. To tend to our inner landscapes so we can better navigate all the ups and downs out there in this unpredictable, messy, yet beautiful world.
With love as always, Hannah and Team Bird
